- The Potsdam branch office of the design office for the traffic and road sector in Eastern Germany was established for planning and designing bridges and roads with a staff of 28 employees
- January 1955
- The branch office was transformed into an independent consulting and design firm for bridges and road design in the Potsdam and Magdeburg districts (60 employees)
- July 1968
- The independent consulting and design firm became the preparatory and design company of the construction trust ABK. Its tasks included the preparation and the design of all construction works carried out by the ABK (motorways, roads, bridges, water-supply projects, railways, destruction, earthworks, maintenance of construction machinery, testing of construction materials) (270 employees)
- June 1990
- After the political and economic changes in East Germany the privatisation of the consulting and engineering company was prepared.
- April 1991
- The privatisation was realized through a Management-buy-out scheme and the VIC GmbH as an independent consulting and engineering firm in the field of traffic engineering, design of bridges, motorways and roads was founded.
